Physiatrists-board-certified physicians specially trained in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Lymphedema and Swelling

After receiving a diagnosis of Lymphedema, certain treatment procedures are indicated. Since there is no cure for lymphedema, the goal of treatment is to decrease the swelling and to sustain the reduction. For a majority of patients, this can be achieved by through Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) which is safe, reliable, and non-invasive. It is proven to provide long-term results for both primary and secondary lymphedema. CDT is performed by specially trained therapists and can also be beneficial for other swelling disorders. The treatment consists of four components:

• Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD)

• Graduated Compression bandages and/or Garments

• Meticulous Skin Care

• Therapeutic Exercises

Kinesio Taping®

The Kinesio Taping Method is designed to facilitate the body natural healing process while allowing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting range of motion. It can be used to treat a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and medical condition.
