Brad Raisbeck turned 23 years old while he was in the hospital and that's not the way any young man wants to spend his birthday. On October 18th, 2014 Brad was in a serious motor cycle accident that left him with no memory for three weeks after his accident. He also suffered from a shattered femur, knee, elbow and a broken nose and ribs. He had already been in the University of Cincinnati Hospital system for 90 days before he finally came to Gateway so he was highly motivated to get back home and hopefully to his job as a truck driver. During that first three months he had only sat up once and he needed the motivation of the therapy team at Gateway Rehabilitation Hospital to help him speed up his recovery journey. Brad was admitted to Gateway January 15th and when I spoke with him on February 9th he was thrilled with his progress and looking forward to going home. His goal was to be able to walk down the aisle in July to support his best friend who was getting married. Cheers to you Brad and the progress you made on this very difficult journey!
Nov 7, 2014 my right leg was amputated below the knee due to an incurable poly microbial bacteria infection localized in my heel bone. My doctors recommended Gateway for rehabilitation. It was because of the great work Gateway therapists did with me that I am now home and moving about on my prosthetic leg. The therapy team taught me how to dress, strengthen my body and walk on my prosthesis. The photo below shows me arriving home on Feb 19, 2015.
My choice to come to Gateway was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Currently I am preparing for spring turkey hunting season 2015, a goal I set when I began therapy.
